The distance between your Sun and Moon is the arc or angular separation that is special to you. We are most familiar with the arcs of the five Ptolemy aspects; conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition. Each of these aspects generates their own vibration or harmonic. So is your personal Sun-Moon arc, which is a harmonic that metaphorically sings your own tune. Most often there are other planet pairs in your chart at the same arc opening as your Sun and Moon arc, and they chime along with you personal tune. When we include the accompaniment from any one or more participating planet pairs we broaden the understanding or your special harmonic. The picture of your harmonic is found in a list form and is used as your “love locator”, so-called because it touches both your heart (Sun) and soul (Moon).

Our focus will be between lovers and mates using the Sun-Moon arc to find what we bring to our partners and the tune they bring to us. This planet pair in synastry can touch you deeply bringing about an experience or emotional foundation that will dominate your relationship and beyond and in some way change your tune. This may spark some insights to the soul work you share as a couple.

With a full profile or your love locator in hand we will investigate charts of other individuals that have become major players in your life. We will hunt for a pair of planets that fall at your Sun-Moon arc opening in the significant other's chart a couple of ways. First using Solar Fire's “difference listing” under Reports on the tool bar. Scroll to the bottom of the list and find it second from the bottom titled “difference listing.” If you use Winstar you would find the list under “angular separations”. Be sure to ask Alphee Lavoie what his list is titled on his program.

We will study the other natal angular separations between planet pairs that equal your natal Sun-Moon arc and then delineate the symbolism.

An example, using Denis Picard's chart:

Looking at Denis' difference list we will use an orb of 3 degrees (there are more for Denis within this orb but we will keep it simple.)

  • Denis' Sun-Moon arc opening is 55° 55'
  • We find earlier on his Moon-Jupiter arc opening at 54° 54'
  • We find later on his Venus-Mars opening is 57° 39'
  • We already get a sense of Denis' heart and soul energy, what it needs and how he is likely to express himself just by the nature of the planet pairs surrounding his Sun-Moon arc.
  • Taking the full picture of the [Sun-Moon], [Moon-Jupiter] and [Venus-Mars] pairs, we then attempt to describe his intrinsic nature.
This intrinsic nature becomes the picture of Denis' love locator (creative essence).
  • To do this, find the planet pairs listed at 55° 55' in Denis' wife's difference listing. This is how she receives his intrinsic love nature.
  • We then find her love locator and see how he receives her intrinsic nature.

  • If people want to e-mail their data I will e-mail back to them back their lists before I come to Wethersfield. We will have the lists of our examples as handouts.

I look forward to seeing you all again.

    Warm regards, Dietrech
