There are those that benefit from the ethereal melodic grace of Neptune that sends waves of peace and calm; a sleepiness that allows you to retreat from the world and slip into brief periods of isolation and withdraw to recharge and refresh. Then there are those that are completely consumed by an overdose of the hazy planet that casts a veil over your eyes and allows you to wander without direction. Some may wander into alcohol and drug addiction with absolutely no way out until they surrender to it and beg God's release from the subconscious grip of Neptune. Others may gorge on food and drink to escape the self within, not knowing what else to do. It's the watery nature that equates to emotions but the emotions are of the hidden nature. We don't see everything around us. That is Neptune. We have a blind eye to many things that are just too painful to confront. Other things elude us in a mystifying way. Then there is another side to Neptune. We are reminded with his trident that he rules the seas. He is the commander of the ships who has tossed his rage through the waves when crossed. He could send calm into whirlwinds and hurricanes and drench any land clean of its inhabitants. Or, the waters could slowly their way to infiltrate every corner and crevice. Water just might be the greatest power on earth. Neptune is truly mystifying and highly emotional as all of his motives are born from his subconscious and psyche. When Neptune gets all emotional, he turns the sea upside down. If you could ask him what is wrong, even he might say, "I don't know; you just made me mad." You might then ask, "mad at what?" and he would reply "for tickling the monsters in the closets of my psyche". His influence is so illusive we often over look his trademark. How many times have you suffered from an annoying disorder that can not be diagnosed? Or perhaps there is just nothing that can be done about the chronic return of the problem. That is Neptune. The most interesting thing about Neptune is that often the cure is affected by prayer. Neptune presents problems that can only be left to God. Man can't seem to manage them but prayer will cut right through. Yet, the wrath of a disorderly Neptune can present a psychotic and paranoid character that can be distrustful and sly on the one hand and sacrifice his last breath to save the world on the other. Neptune can also slip away from the hands of responsibility - until times like now. Now Saturn is upon Neptune's case once again, February 28, 2007. He confronted Neptune in this opposition last August and will confront him once more next June. His illusive misguided behavior must be checked. Neptune was one of the three original Gods; Jupiter was the highest God who had two brothers, Pluto and Neptune. Saturn was the son or Gaia and Uranus and he kept the order and taught agriculture and architecture. He became the icon of the "father" insisting you do your chores and pay your debts - your debts of karma. "It's time", says the timekeeper Saturn. Sometimes it's your time when he is the grim reaper. Sometimes it's your time when you earn a promotion. Sometimes it's your time when you come into your own. You manifest your dreams by combining the two - Saturn and Neptune. You need both to actualize because you need Neptune to inspire dreams and imagination and from Saturn, to demonstrate right action. You can feel stuck in the mud right now but, by grounding the spiritual/emotional energies, you can create a new beginning just like gentle rain on fertile ground. It was 1972 when Saturn and Neptune formed an opposition before this current set of oppositions. Richard Nixon was about to commit an impeachable offense that when confronted with it, caused him to resign as president of the United States. In 1989 Saturn and Neptune rejoined in a conjunction and refreshed their cycle. The Berlin wall came down and Bush Sr. was President of the US. When they were square in '98 and '99 the Presidential power was nearly rendered impotent over a sex scandal. Now we are forced to bear with a president who continues to toss our precious sons and daughters into battles that are not our own. What will save this country if not the shift in the Senate, and yet then why are the actions of the absurd and insidious allowed to go on unchecked? The last time Saturn opposed Neptune he stopped the slippery behavior in its tracks. We have one more Saturn - Neptune opposition in June to watch this perform. Now Saturn is retrograde as if his hands are tied behind his back. In June that won't be the case. If only the Senate could stall the troop escalation until Saturn motion is direct and then Neptune will be retrograde with his hands tied behind his back. This week we see the influence of this pair again, raising the price of oil as they did back in August. But it came back down in November and I am hoping for that again. It is having an effect on real estate sales and prices continue to drop. A Lunar Eclipse is on the calendar March 3 bringing a feeling of urgency because deadlines are building and pressing on.
