Retrograde Mercury will back up and reach the point of the New Moon on August 6, 2005 at 9:32 p.m. eastern time. We could hear an announcement around that day that will affect many. Maybe a presidential nominee or candidate of another sort, announcing their position. The retrograde Mercury would put a damper on their plans later. There are so many blind spots to consider over the month of August.

An increase in Mars energy (anger, aggression, noise and emergency vehicles) with any current Mars aspects - as well as aspects between the Moon and Mars - is highly noticeable now. Some people believe Mars is currently closest to the Earth in 60,000 years but this already took place in 2003. I researched the question to be sure and found that in 2005, Mars will be closer to the Earth in October when it turns retrograde at 23° Taurus on October 1st. However, it is not the headliner it was back in 2003. Nonetheless the imposing effects on our cosmic weather experiences a noticeable increase in the Mars energy.

Here are a few reasons explaining the increase:

  • The Mars-Saturn square from last July 31, 2005, lingers and was compounded by the Taurus Last Quarter of July 27, 2005 at the same degrees the Mars and Saturn square which added longevity to that aspect. (For more information on the Mars Square Saturn aspect, please refer to the July 30, 2005 Weekly Report. Additionally, also check out the November 6, 2004 Weekly Report.)
  • On the week of July 30 Mercury and Mars held a parallel aspect - from July 31 through August 4. The symbolism there is a fire under the pot and rash decisions during a time when the advice is to percolate decisions before taking action.
  • On Tuesday, August 9, Mars and Pluto are sesqui-square, bringing in a steamroller aspect. Perhaps the torn up roads get a coat of “hot top” bituminous cement and we see an end to so many roadblocks. This symbolism plays in our lives as well.
  • A high priority note is to watch as Mars passes over the degree of 8° Taurus. This is the point of Mars direct station on December 10, 2005. Mars, now at half its peak rate of travel adds to the intensity of the symbolism that collects around the red planet. Mars reaches that hot degree this Friday August 12, 2005 and falls into a heated intense form with the First Quarter Moon at 20° Scorpio on the same day. We can expect the headlines to reflect the cosmic match that lights the fire around that day.

  • The positive side of increased Mars energy is the ability to accomplish more in a shorter period of time often at the cost of your stress level and immune system. Move forward with caution as the Mercury retrograde period is subject to mishaps with so much Mars energy.
