The "Out of Bounds" Moon and Hurricane Katrina

There comes a time when global events are so dramatic that there is a need to explain the current planetary phenomena more deeply. This is such a time by explaining the extremes of lunar declinations we better understand the events around us. The topic of extreme is found with the Sagittarius First Quarter Moon on Sunday, plus two very positive aspects to Mars mid-week. Pluto is also a focus with two major aspects. But first I want to talk about the First Quarter Moon - an extremely high Moon and at an apparent standstill position from earth's perspective. This extraordinary position astrologically is referred to as "out of bounds." On August 26, 2005, the Last Quarter Moon that brought the category five hurricane to New Orleans was also an out of bounds (o/b) Moon. An o/b Moon causes greater tides, stronger weather patterns, and other higher occurrences of reproduction rates in nature.

The o/b Moon's gradual climb to the highest degrees of north or south declinations in a cyclical 19-year pattern is called the Metonic cycle. During these periods, the Moon reaches 5° beyond the boundary set by the Sun's maximum declination at 23° 26' from the celestial equator. Mercury, Venus and Mars also reach extreme north (+) or south (-) declinations from time to time. Uranus and Pluto will slip just over the limit, not reaching 24° north, or south. The remaining planets in our solar system remain within the boundary set by the Sun.

You or your business may have planets or the Moon o/b which explains unique qualities, circumstances or personality traits that are similar to higher tides. This phenomena raises the human and animal internal tides. There is research that links this cycle to the reproduction cycle of plants, animals and fishes. The point being, that we can expect extremes in weather and other major events involving water every 19 years. This current cycle does not peak for another year before it begins its decline within the boundary of the Sun' 23°26 declination. It might be interesting to note more earth related shifts occur when the Moon rises at its lowest declination. (Please refer to this graph that demonstrates this point.)

All this being said, expect high emotional tides bringing global and personal matters to a head throughout this week. A contributing factor is linked to the up and coming Pisces Full Moon, September 17, 2005 - building to a crisis peak as this Sagittarius First Quarter Moon sets the stage. The Pisces Full Moon next week reveals the details of a major economic shift. Reports from realtors say the housing bubble has hit as homeowners are placing homes on the market in record numbers this past week - out of fear of rough times to come.

On a positive note if you have a publication, mailing or project that needs broad attention, this high profile Sagittarius Moon brings you the perfect week to put your goals out there. The o/b high Moon is from September 9-14, when you can expect to reach your audience.

Each week I include the parallel and contraparallel aspects, as these aspects are more powerful than the similar conjunction and opposition. Planets are parallel when they line up at the same number in declination and are both + (north) or both - (south). If one is + north, and the other - south, they are contraparallel. Planets found beyond 23° 26' north or south, they are o/b.
